For Rachel, drawing and painting is about light and the relationships it reveals, beyond what we see in front of us. She values the observation of Bathurst architect Tony McBurney: ‘In human perception, light has the power to form and to dissolve and in this, we see the power of the creator’. For Rachel, ‘To draw and paint light is to confront the reality of what it is to be alive!’
