Wendy SHARPE | Artist in residence at The Lock-Up, Newcastle 2025-26

Wendy SHARPE is the Artist-in-Residence at the Lockup, Newcastle for 2026! Her subsequent solo exhibition Into the Dark, will be on display from July 18. 

In this bold new solo presentation, Wendy Sharpe unveils a new commission, a gallery-wide mural and immersive labyrinthine installations that respond to the abyssal descent into darkness shaping the contemporary moment. Into the Dark stages an encounter with collective dread, leading audiences through an existential logic of choice and asking whether the act of confronting fear might transform paralysis into awareness, and even resistance.
