Please join us this coming Saturday afternoon with Tom Carment, to walk through his current exhibition Postcards – Twenty New Watercolours for an informal exhibition tour and artist talk.
Champagne and refreshments will be provided on arrival. Non-alcoholic alternatives also available. *This is a complimentary, ticketed event, and registrations are essential. All welcome. Suggested arrival from 1:45pm, the artist talk/speaking event will commence from 2pm.
Tom has been selected for the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes multiple times to date, as well as the Salon des Refusés, twenty-five times, as of 2024. His work is held in multiple collections of the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of NSW, City of Melbourne Art & Heritage Collection, NSW State Parliament, State Library of NSW, Kedumba Drawing Collection, the Macquarie Group – among others!
Each small picture is associated with the things I did that day, the people I spoke to before and after, the sounds and words I heard while I was doing it. A version of what I saw remains there on the sheet of paper, hopefully true to the initial sensation that made me want to stop and paint. On rainy days I open up my plan drawers and go through recent watercolours, ripping up the ones I no longer like.
This exhibition is a selection of twenty of my recent postcard-sized works, and I will show more of them along with my oil paintings in April next year.”
