Nathan NHAN has been invited to participate in the 2026 Canberra art biennial, this year marks the 6th edition of the Canberra-wide arts festival.
Canberra Art Biennial is a biennial contemporary public art festival that engages the stories and aesthetics of Canberra’s designed landscape through site-specific artworks and events. The festival champions diverse and accessible approaches to public art, presenting commissioned artworks by leading Australian and international artists as well as promising emerging artists, many of whom are creating public art or working with new media, scales and sites for the first time.
Founded by Dr Neil Hobbs, the festival was born from Neil’s research into how temporary public art interventions transform space. Now, the festival invites artists to bring their ideas into dialogue with the capital’s designed landscape, presenting free contemporary art in the places we gather day-to-day.
The 6th edition of the Canberra Art Biennial features newly commissioned artworks, along with exhibitions and re-stagings of preexisting artworks, from over 50 Australian and international artists and curators. Explore the program over 7 weeks, across 20 festival sites.
The festival is presented on the unceded lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people. Always was always will be Aboriginal land.

Nathan’s new series of sculptures comprising SWEET TOOHT, will be installed and on display on street level, in room G.04 of the recently-completed, architect-design Nangari carpark.

Nangari carpark is a recently completed multi-level carpark in Canberra CBD. Despite its verticality, by stripping back materials to three basic elements – exposed aggregate precast panels, mill-finished aluminium frames, and galvanised steel balustrades – the building sits quietly, almost elegantly. The lift lobby has natural marmoleum underfoot and soft lighting.
At street level, room G.04 hosts the new exhibition ‘sweet tooth’ by Nathan Nhan. From 5 October, Tisna Sanjaya presents a new commission in room G.01.
These exhibitions can be viewed from the footpath day and night.
