Douglas Schofield (B. 1993, Yuin Country/ Eden, NSW) is an abstract, gestural painter whose practice reflects his ongoing gardening and horticulturalist practice.
Schofield is an emerging artist currently based in Sydney, NSW. In 2017 he graduated Fine Art (Hons) at UNSW Art & Design, with a major in painting and a minor in printmaking. Schofield grew up in Eden, on the Far South Coast of NSW, in his parent’s rambling garden. This early immersion in nature has resulted in a practice that reflects on the bodily experience in landscape.
He has had solo and group exhibitions nationally and has exhibited internationally in China, Spain, and Philippines. In 2017, Douglas’ work was acquired by the Macquarie Group collection, Sydney, and in 2019, a series of watercolour monotypes were acquired.
Douglas’ representation commenced with KSGoW in 2026. Please contact the gallery via art@kingstreetgallery.com to join Douglas’ mailing list. His debut exhibition with us is scheduled for late 2026.

Editor Rose of Sharon Leake chats to artist Douglas via Zoom about the intersection of his gardening and painting practices, the beauty of untamed nature and the challenge of knowing when to step away from a finished work.
