Elisabeth Cummings

Sojourns: Flinders Ranges, Arkaroola & the Pilbara

Online exhibition - until 14 August 2021

Travelling comes in many guises: the physical, the emotional, the intellectual, the spiritual, and in a combination of all of these forms.

Sometimes, you choose the way and sometimes you discover a way along the journey. Elisabeth Cummings has been visiting and re-visiting remote areas of the Australian landscape for over 50 years. Each sojourn delivers a different aspect and respect for the timeless beauty and grace offered anew with every trip.

Last year, during a visit to Elisabeth’s studio – over a cup of tea – Elisabeth had sitting on her table a collections of works on paper, dating from 2002-2019. They had been put away in her studio plan drawers over the years and remained there until Elisabeth opened the drawer on the day of our visit – looking for something else!
