John Edwards has been showing with King Street Gallery for 20 years. This is his 9th solo show and the new series of paintings ‘Colonial and on the Run [after Nolan] are inspired by the wilder side of Australia’s early years of settlement. John has retraced history and revisited the legends of Australia’s bushrangers, bringing to our attention the lesser known female bushrangers: Anne Bugg, Mary Cockerill and Jessie Hickman [known as the ‘Lady Bushranger’].
John Edwards has been hung in the Archibald Prize on four occasions, the Sulman Prize twice and the Wynne Prize. He was a finalist in the 2014 Kilgour Art Prize and the Paddington Art Prize in 2013.
