On Thursday September 4, from 11am Idris MURPHYwill give an artist talk at Hazelhurst Arts Centre. Idris’ work features in the current exhibition Sanctuary: 25 Years of Hazelhurst Arts Centre, in celebration of their exhibiting program to date.

Join us for an engaging artist talk with renowned contemporary Australian landscape painter Idris Murphy. Known for his distinctive use of colour, abstract forms, and deep connection to the Australian landscape, Murphy will share insights into his practice, influences, and the stories behind his evocative works.
This intimate discussion offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of Australia’s most respected painters about the art and ideas that shape his celebrated career.

Idris’ painting ‘Shadowed Reflection‘, 2020 is on display in the exhibition, in addition to Martin King, who also has work on display, within Celebrating Art on Paper (a selection of works on paper within the exhibition Sanctuary.)
Sanctuary: 25 Years of Hazelhurst Arts Centre presents a showcase of artists who represent the strength and diversity of Hazelhurst’s storied 25 year history. The artworks included demonstrate the history of excellence at the Centre, as well as signalling a diverse and engaging future for the exhibition program.
