Monotype or monoprint is the term for producing a one off original print. these are produced with a printing press. Ink is applied with a roller to a perspex sheet, litho stone or glass plate. Drawing into or painting with inks or oil crayons, the plate is completed, paper is placed over the plate and then covered with blankets and run through the press. the blankets are removed and the paper peeled back to reveal the reverse image of the plate.
I have taken some liberties with the tradition of printmaking. I have blurred the lines of painting and printmaking. I have gone outside the boundaries and my ink and paint have broken out onto the paper surrounding the plate borders.
