Excavare

26 November - 21 December 2013

Excavare is a series of photographs taken at archaeological sites in Ercolano and Pompeii. The images confront the contrast between the antiquity of subject and the modernity of technique. The overlapping layers [caused by multiple exposures] represent the various layers of memory as well as the physicality of the ruins/ excavation works themselves. “Memory is multifaceted, and we are constantly remaking our memories. They become coloured in our minds, and they vary each time we revive a them”.
