Congratulations to Harrie Fasher, who is a finalist in the inaugural Straithnairn Arts Small Sculpture Prize 2025
This years judges are Wendy Teakel, Dr Amanda Stuart, and Tom Gray.
The new prize encourages a diverse range of artistic expression, with submissions open to artists of all levels—from emerging talents to established professionals. The SASS prize will be determined by a panel of appointed judges, who will review each entry before shortlisting 30 finalists. The same panel will then select the 1stPrize ($10,000) Highly Commended ($3,000) and Emerging Artist ($1,000).
Designed to foster innovation in the field of small-scale sculpture, this award emphasises a diverse range of artistic expression, encouraging artists to experiment with new forms, materials, and concepts. The prize aims to highlight the creativity and potential of smaller works, offering a space for contemporary sculptors to experiment and push boundaries.
The competition’s theme, small sculptures with big attitude, invites artists to think beyond conventional forms and showcase works that resonate with strong visual and conceptual impact, even within the constraints of size.
