We’re delighted to announce that the opening reception for our next exhibition, Unfolding Time: Selected from the John Peart Estate, will mark both the launch of the highly anticipated, hardcover monograph John Peart, and the official opening reception for the 2026 solo exhibition in Sydney.
Unfolding Time will showcase a selection of paintings from the John Peart Estate, spanning his extensive career. The exhibition also marks the publication launch of a hardcover monograph edited by curator, Sioux Garside, published by Spitting Image. The highly-anticipated monograph features a wonderful forward by Chris Saines CNZM, and essay contributions by Sioux Garside, Anne Ryan, Quentin Sprague, Joe Frost, Virginia Milson, and John Peart.
‘Ceaselessly inventive to the end, Peart had spent over 50 years in search of an original pictorial form through which to reconcile his poetic reply to the world. The avant-garde influences so visible in his earliest work were soon enough reduced into an oeuvre of infinite formal and aesthetic variation, making him one of our most distinctive and distinguished artists. Driven by a profound sense of what it is to be human, John Peart had a searching visual intelligence and a deep curiosity about life and the world. He was, without doubt, one of the leading artists of his generation’
– Chris Saines CNZM, (forward excerpt, from John Peart, published 2026)
The John Peart Estate is managed by King Street Gallery on William Sydney, and Charles Nodrum Gallery, Melbourne.
